What information we collect and how we use it

At times we may request that you supply us with personal information. Generally, this information is requested when you apply or register for our services, or send us an enquiry.

We collect, use, and retain information about you only if we reasonably believe it is justified, required, and useful in order to conduct our business effectively, and to provide you with information about our products and services we believe will be of interest to you.

We may gather and use information about you in the following ways:

o Names of parent/legal guardian/ person authorised to pick up child
o Addresses (including email addresses)
o Telephone, mobile and facsimile numbers
o NRIC/ Passport Numbers
o Nationality
o Residential status e.g. Singapore citizen, Permanent Resident, etc…
o Marital status
o Date of birth
o Occupation / Employment Pass details
o Gender
o Age of children
o Medical condition of children

• We keep a record of this information. This is necessary for dealing with your enquiries or online submissions.
• We will use your personal details and information we obtain from other sources for administration and customer services, for marketing, to analyse your preferences, and to ensure that the content, services, and advertising that we offer are tailored to your needs and interests.
• We may disclose personal data in order to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.
• In addition, when you register on this website we will use your personal information for research and internal statistical analysis, to corroborate and validate the personal information you provide, and for the provision of education or training information, school leadership services, courses or programmes.
• We intend to continue improving the content and function of our website. For this reason, we may monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us improve the design and layout of our site, and provide content of interest to you.

How we use your information

The purposes for which Blue House uses this information may include, but not limited to, any of the following:

• to administer the registration of a child;
• for the school operations and programmes;
• to provide the appropriate medical treatment to a child (where necessary);
• to provide feedback to the parent on the child’s progress;
• to contact the parent/legal guardian in case of emergency;
• to compile the class list;
• compliance with any law or regulation or directive from any applicable governmental body or authority such as but not limited to the MCYS, MOH; and
• disclosure to lawyers, auditors, financial advisors, and other professionals in connection with their services to us.

We may contact you by mail, telephone, email or other electronic messaging service with offers of products, services, promotions, or information in the education and professional services sector that may be of interest to you. By providing us with your contact details you consent to being contacted by these methods for these purposes.

Sharing of your personal information

At times we will share your information with other partners and stakeholders who work on our behalf, and who do so under conditions of confidentiality, and we may need to share your information with our service providers and agents for the purposes set out above.

SMS reminder service

By providing your mobile telephone number you agree to Blue House contacting you by SMS. For example, we may send you reminders regarding an event you have booked to attend. By using this service you accept that we provide no kind of guarantee to deliver the reminder SMS, or that there may be some delay in delivery of the SMS that is beyond our control.

How to get copies of or amend the information we have collected

As a general rule, Blue House will upon the request of an individual, provide him/her as soon as reasonably possible with personal information about the individual that is in our possession and information about the ways in which the personal data has been or may have been used or disclosed within a year before the date of the request.

Blue House will also, where an individual has requested that it correct an error or omission in the personal data about the individual that is kept with Blue House, correct such data as soon as practicable and send the corrected personal data to every organisation to which the personal data was sent before it had been corrected, unless that organisation does not need the corrected personal data for any legal or business purpose.

Blue House may; however choose not to provide individuals with access to or correct such information, in accordance with the exceptions under the PDPA. This would include cases where:

i) Blue House is satisfied on reasonable grounds that the correction should not be made;
ii) The request for access is frivolous or vexatious or the information requested is trivial;
iii) The personal information is related to a prosecution and all the proceedings related to the prosecution have not been completed;
iii) The personal data, if disclosed, would reveal confidential commercial information that could, in the opinion of a reasonable person, harm the competitive position of the organisation; and
iv) The personal data was collected, used or disclosed for the purposes of an investigation and associated proceedings and appeals have not been completed.

Use of cookies on our sites

In order to provide a personalised service, we allocate a unique identifier to your browser by using software known as a ‘cookie’. This software does not pass any personal information to Blue House or any other organisation and is only used to identify your browser. Cookies store information regarding your preferences and other information specific to you and may be viewed by Blue House and any other persons who have access to your computer.

How we protect your information

Blue House takes appropriate precautions to protect our users’ information. Your account information is located on a secured server behind a firewall. However, data transmission over the internet cannot be guaranteed as 100% secure and therefore you use the website at your own risk. Online payments, however, are conducted over a secure socket (SSL) and are secure.

Password security

In some instances, you may be required to enter a username and password to access information about your account and to change your personal details. The user name (also called a login ID) and password are required in order to protect your privacy and security. It is your responsibility to ensure that you do not allow your username or password to be disclosed to any other person

If you are required to have a password for use of any part of Blue House’s websites, we recommend you select a password that does not relate to any readily accessible data such as your name, birth date, address, etc. You are entirely responsible for maintaining the security of your login ID and password, and for all activity that occurs on or through your account. You should change your password immediately if you believe that your login ID and password have been used without authorisation. Blue House shall not have any liability for your failure to comply with these obligations. Blue House’s IT Helpdesk has the ability to reset a user password.

Transfer of information in case of sale

Should our business (or any part of it) be sold or transferred to new owners at any time, the information we hold may form part of the assets transferred although it will still only be used in accordance with this policy.

Change of policy

We reserve the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions from this policy at any time so you are encouraged to review this policy from time to time. We will, of course, notify you of any changes where we are required to do so.
